Steve Ballmer
Microsoft CEO

Steve Ballmer will kick off the 2011 International CES with a preshow keynote address at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 5, in the Las Vegas Hilton Center. In previous years, Microsoft has used the CES keynote stage to launch major products including Xbox, Windows Vista and its Sync technology partnership with Ford.
CEA President and CEO, Gary Shapiro and Verizon CEO, Ivan Seidenberg
Ivan Seidenberg, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Verizon, has led Verizon since its inception in 2000 following the merger of Bell Atlantic and GTE. He has transformed the company into a premier global network company by building a nationwide wireless network, deploying high-speed fiber broadband direct to homes, and expanding its global Internet backbone network around the world. Verizon’s leadership in network innovation has earned the company numerous awards, including Fortune’s 2010 “World’s Most Admired Companies” list at No.1 in the telecommunications sector.
“Ivan is a terrific leader who has positioned Verizon as a top global provider of communications, information and entertainment across a wide variety of platforms,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. “Verizon embraces innovation and its vast broadband networks touch all facets of the technology ecosystem. Seidenberg delivered his CES keynote address after a State of the CE Industry keynote address delivered by Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA.
Rupert Stadler
AUDI AG Chairman of the Board of Management
The 2011 show marks Audi’s first International CES keynote address.
“Through Rupert Stadler’s leadership, Audi has become a global leader in the automotive industry, providing consumers with a high-quality driving experience through innovative design and technology,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CEA. “Advanced technology is at the heart of Audi’s DNA and is contributing to their continuing gains in global market share. We are excited to welcome Rupert to the CES stage and look forward to hearing his outlook on the future of Audi and the ongoing relationship between the consumer technology and automotive markets.”
Rupert Stadler was named Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG in January 2007. Additionally, in his capacity as Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi, Stadler was appointed to the Board of Management of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft on January 1, 2010. Stadler joined Audi AG, Ingolstadt, in 1990, where he assumed various controlling tasks in the Marketing and Sales area. He switched to Volkswagen/Audi España SA, Barcelona, as Commercial Director in 1994. From 1997, Stadler was Head of the Board of Management’s Office for the Volkswagen Group, and, from January 2002, also Head of Group Product Planning. On April 1, 2003, he became responsible for the company’s Finance and Organization division and performed this task as a dual function with his role as Board Chairman until August 31, 2007.
Boo-Keun Yoon
Samsung President and General Manager of Visual Display Business
As President of Samsung’s Visual Display Business, Boo-Keun Yoon oversees all activities surrounding a broad portfolio of devices, including TVs, monitors, Blu-ray players and other connected consumer digital products. Under his leadership, the division has maintained its No.1 status in terms of global market share for TVs, monitors and Blu-ray players. In addition, he has successfully led several efforts to commercialize market-leading innovations such as Samsung’s LED TV in 2009 and, most recently, the company’s total 3D entertainment solution – a full product suite consisting of TVs, Blu-ray home theater systems and glasses that make it possible for consumers to enjoy 3D content in the comfort of their homes.
Innovation Power Panel
Cisco CEO John Chambers, GE Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Immelt and Xerox Chairman and CEO Ursula Burns join the 2011 International CES keynote line up as participants in the Innovation Power Panel, a first-of-its kind CES keynote panel that brings together three dynamic executives who are global leaders at the forefront of innovation. The CEOs of these three Fortune 500 companies will speak at this CES keynote panel to provide insight on how innovation is core to their respective success — helping them each emerge as global leaders in their fields.
John Chambers, chairman and chief executive officer of Cisco, has helped grow the company from $70 million when he joined the company in January 1991, to $1.2 billion when he assumed the role of CEO, to its current run rate of more than $40 billion. In November 2006 Chambers was named chairman of the board in addition to CEO. Chambers has received several awards for his leadership during his years with Cisco and has been named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people, one of Barron’s world’s best CEOs, the best boss in America by “20/20,” and one of BusinessWeek’s top 25 executives worldwide.
Jeffrey Immelt, chairman and chief executive officer of GE, has been with the company since 1982, and has held several leadership positions including in GE’s Plastics, Appliance, and Medical businesses. Immelt has been named one of the “World’s Best CEOs” three times by Barron’s, and since he began serving as chief executive officer, GE has been named “America’s Most Admired Company” in a poll conducted by Fortune magazine and one of “The World’s Most Respected Companies” in polls by Barron’s and the Financial Times.
Ursula Burns, chairman and chief executive officer of Xerox Corporation, has been with Xerox since 1980, first starting as a mechanical engineering summer intern before working her way up the company to lead various organizations including Xerox’s global research as well as product development, marketing and delivery. She was named CEO in July 2009 and has since been instrumental in driving the acquisition of Affiliated Computer Services, which has transformed Xerox into the world’s leading enterprise for business process and document management. Burns has been recognized for her leadership by both Fortune and Forbes magazine’s “Most Powerful Women” lists. Also under Ursula’s watch Xerox has been named to Bloomberg Businessweek’s “The World’s 25 Most Inventive Companies.” Burns was named by President Barack Obama to help lead the White House national program on STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) in November 2009 and was appointed vice chair of the President’s Export Council in March 2010.
Alan Mulally
Ford Motor Company President and CEO
Alan Mulally has been instrumental in Ford’s leadership in the automotive industry and its success in a challenging economy. Ford constantly innovates and launches new technologies, like SYNC with speech recognition, that make the driving experience safer through technology. CES is thrilled to welcome Alan back to the CES keynote stage.
In 2006, Mulally joined Ford, after serving as executive vice president of The Boeing Company and president and chief executive officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. He is known for his innovative and focused leadership, while working to transform Ford into a lean, global enterprise. He has served as a past president of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and is a former president of its Foundation. Additionally, Mulally served as a past chairman of the Board of Governors of the Aerospace Industries Association. He was named to Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in 2009, “Person of the Year” in 2006 by Aviation Week magazine and one of “The Best Leaders of 2005″ by BusinessWeek magazine.
Entertainment Matters Keynote Panel
Akamai’s David Kenny, The Coca-Cola Company’s Joseph V. Tripodi, Interpublic Group’s (IPG) Michael Roth, Microsoft’s Mich Mathews and WPP’s Sir Martin Sorrell will join the 2011 International CES keynote lineup as participants in the Entertainment Matters keynote panel.
The Entertainment Matters keynote panel will be moderated by Michael Kassan, chairman and CEO of MediaLink LLC. Since founding the company in 2004, Kassan has built MediaLink LLC into a leading advisory firm that provides sage counsel to the media, entertainment, and technology industries.
David Kenny, president of Akamai, joined the company in September 2010. Kenny is responsible for leading Akamai’s business operations, including the company’s product groups; global sales, services, and marketing; engineering; and networks and operations. He also serves as a Director of Akamai, having joined the Board in July 2007. Kenny has extensive experience as a senior management consultant to companies in software, financial services, and packaged goods.
Joe Tripodi, executive vice president and chief marketing and commercial officer of The Coca-Cola Company, joined the company in 2007. Tripodi currently leads the global Marketing, Customer Management and Commercial Leadership efforts of the company to develop its brands and properties to meet the needs of consumers worldwide. Prior to joining The Coca-Cola Company, he was senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Allstate. Prior to Allstate, he was head of marketing for The Bank of NY, Seagram Spirits & Wine Group and MasterCard. He is also a member of the board of the Ad Council.
Michael Roth, chairman and CEO of Interpublic Group (IPG), has been a member of IPG’s board since 2002 and added his title of CEO in 2005. Before joining IPG, one of the world’s leading organizations of advertising agencies and marketing services companies, Roth was chairman and CEO of The MONY Group Inc. where he enhanced its ability to compete in the financial services marketplace. Roth is also a member of the Board of Directors for Pitney Bowes Inc., the Ad Council and the Gaylord Entertainment Company.
As the senior vice president for Microsoft’s Central Marketing Group, Mich Mathews oversees the company’s global marketing function, spanning a diverse set of businesses and audiences. Mathews began her career with Microsoft in 1989 as a consultant in the U.K. She later joined Microsoft in 1993 to lead its Corporate Public Relations function and was named an officer of the corporation in 1999. She has held a succession of marketing positions in Microsoft including vice president of Corporate Communications and vice president of its Central Marketing Organization. Prior to working with Microsoft, Mathews spent three years at General Motors.
Sir Martin Sorrell, founder and CEO of WPP, has been CEO since WPP’s founding in 1985. Under Sorrell’s leadership, WPP’s worldwide companies have expanded to include JWT, Ogilvy Group, Y&R Brands, Grey Group, TNS and GroupM. Sorrell actively supports the advancement of international business schools – advising Harvard, Cambridge, IESE, the London Business School and the Indian School of Business. He has been publicly recognized with a number of awards, including the Harvard Business School Alumni Achievement Award and is a non-executive director of F1.
Entertainment Matters, a new program sponsored by Variety and Cricket and designed for Hollywood’s film, television and digital communities, will debut at the 2011 International CES. The program will feature exhibits, events and conference programs designed specifically for entertainment professionals interested in the convergence of content and technology. The Entertainment Matters program aims to customize the CES experience for those within the Hollywood industry.
